An A-Corp prototype you can play with

A new R&D experiment

An A-Corp prototype you can play with

Hello A-Corp friends.

It's been quiet here, because we've been building. Three things to share, one of which you can play with right now.

1. The A-Corp community is live. We've launched a space for the A-Corp community to talk, share resources, and build this movement together, using Dark Forest OS, a new Metalabel product. Join us at acorp.dfos.com.

2. The first A-Corp law is almost here. We're in the homestretch of the first ever Artist Corporations legislation, which will be introduced in Colorado imminently. More on that in our next message.

3. You can explore what an A-Corp actually looks like. While drafting the law, we've been gut-checking our work by building out what the A-Corp experience will feel like in practice — a registration process, financial tools, and legal comparisons all generated from the actual draft legislation. We're excited to share that R&D experiment with you today: acorp.co.

A few areas especially worth your time:

The registration process. Click through each step of forming an A-Corp. You can even enter your own data and save it at the end. (It won't create an A-Corp yet, of course.)

The project calculator. Think of it as a mortgage calculator for your creative practice. Input your revenue, royalties, and IP, then see the potential value. The methodology behind it is worth reading on its own.

The cap-table calculator. See what your practice looks like with equity as an A-Corp — including one of the law's core provisions: at least 51% of voting shares must be owned and controlled by artists.

The legal form comparison. A detailed look at how A-Corps differ from every existing option.

There's more to explore beyond these. Take a look, then join us in DFOS and tell us what you think.

Big steps. Talk soon.
