New private media
The sights and sounds of Hacienda 1.2
Before, a DFOS world only held text and still images. Now, it moves and speaks.
With our latest DFOS update, Hacienda 1.2, shipping today, you can drag any image, sound, or video from your machine into a space — it uploads, saves, and plays where it lands.
That’s the surface level. What's underneath matters more. Paired with the DFOS Protocol — which will let a file travel the open web while staying provably yours — this is more than a media player. It's a foundation for shared private media: things you make and keep inside a world you control, and that reach clearnet only when you decide they should.
With an upcoming update to the DFOS Protocol, for example, you'll be able to cleanly sync your DFOS data — including media you upload — to your local server with authorship and provenance provable and secured, independent of DFOS servers. Meanwhile your audio files, video files, and images live natively in your own universe, with as much or as little public or paid exposure as you want.
The release introduces the basics for audio, video, images. Tracklists, slideshows, and richer forms come next.
Hacienda 1.2 also includes major upgrades to the Treasury app, including percentage-based splits, automatic withdrawals, and more group-empowering economic tools. Much more to come on this front as well.
The shared private internet. Now with shared private media and money too.
